The desire to create our fingerprint impression jewellery came from my own motherhood and grief journey.
I was wanting that holds the physical natural indent of your loved ones fingerprint. Each piece of jewellery embodies sentiment and enduring love.

Warm Wax
There are 3 pieces of wax per fingerprint wax kit. Please create 3 impressions, so I am able to choose the best impression. Only one wax impression will be used.
Warm the wax in a cup of hot water, roughly the temp of a drinkable cup of tea.
The wax needs to be soft enough to easily squash between your fingers.
If it becomes sticky, it means it has overheated. Let it cool slightly.
Shape Wax
Roll the wax between your fingers into a smooth ball.
Blend away as many cracks and folds as possible.
Any cracks that are visible on the surface will become bigger when an impression is made.
Take Impression
Place the parchment paper over your pendant size (Size Guide Card) and put the wax on top. Firmly press down to leave a clear impression.
Note: these instructions are for a single sided impression pendant.
Tips for Babies
Infants under 12 months often don't have clearly defined fingerprints yet.
A beautiful alternative is to capture the unique folds and creases in between their fingers, which have clear definition and lines.
Check Impression
If you can see a clear impression, it will cast beautifully.
If you're not happy, reheat, reshape, and try again.
If you see cracks in your wax, it wasn't warm enough or smooth when you made the impression. Any imperfections on the surface of your print will be visible in your finished piece.
Prep Return
Please leave impressions on the individual parchment paper and place each impression in its own container - do not combine prints.
Place the second piece of parchment paper lightly over the top, this will help stop the wax impression sticking to the top of the container.
Once I receive your kit, I will match it to your order. When each impression is checked, I choose the best impression for casting. If you have a favourite, simply mark it with the labels provided, I will do my best to use it.
Double-check your order details, pack everything into the original box, apply the prepaid label, and drop it off at the post office.

For peace of mind you have the option to include a silicone mould with every impression taken.
This ensures you can recreate your impression if ever lost.

Once you've placed your order, we will mail you Fingerprint Impression Kit. Follow the instructions in the kit, and using the included return mailer, send your impression back to us.
Yes, we recommend waiting until your little ones are 12 months old as their fingerprints are still developing before this.
Alternatively, if you would like to capture a sentimental piece for a newborn and tiny infants, we highly recommend an impression of their little finger creases or fingernails, which capture beautifully from birth!
Allow up to 4 weeks from the day we receive your fingerprint kit back at our studio.
Every single piece of Poppy Mac Jewellery is proudly and intentionally handmade right here in the Southern Highlands, Australia.
Fingerprint Impression jewellery uses the Lost Wax Casting method, this means wax designs are sent to our casting house in Sydney, Australia. From there they use the natural wax design to create a mould for precious metal.
The raw cast is then sent back to us in our studio.
Safeguard Guarantee is our unique offer that gives you extra peace of mind. When you purchase your Fingerprint Impression Kit you have the option to include a silicone mould with each order.
This ensures that if you ever loose your impression jewellery, you can recreate your impression again.
If the fingerprint is larger than the size guide (like an adult thumbprint), experiment with which part of the fingerprint you would like to capture.
