Behind the Name

My grandfather, Norm McDonald (1921-2017), was known by his much loved grandchildren as Pop or Poppy. I also have a female, chocolate labradoodle named Poppy. She’s bold and very cute, and you’ll spot her in posts and stories from time to time. My dad, Harry Irons, who was diagnosed with Younger Onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2014, calls her Poppy Mac.

I think Poppy Mac is the perfect name for my business – personal, individual and very special.

The jewellery I create is truly distinctive, as every hammer, bend, imprint or solder is created with purpose by me. Poppy Mac offers you modern, handmade jewellery inspired by nature’s textures, minimalist shapes and stunning colours. These pieces reflect the woman you are –– unique, vibrant, exceptional.
